David E. McGurn, Jr. - Chairman

David joined Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. more than 29 years ago as an Account Executive.  He has subsequently served in various leadership roles, beginning with Unit Sales Manager, then Executive Vice President of the Risk Management Sales Division. In 1988, David was appointed President of International Special Risk Services, Inc.  He was named a Corporate Vice President of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. in 1994.

In 1996 David started the Specialty Marketing & International Division.  As President of SMI, David is responsible for all of Gallagher's wholesale, reinsurance, and international operations. David serves on the Executive Management Committee, a group that reports to Pat Gallagher and works closely with the Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Board of Directors.  He also serves as Chairman of Arthur J. Gallagher (UK) Limited and Risk Placement Services, Inc.   In addition, Dave served on the Board of Directors of the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers (CIAB) from 1996 through 2006.

David Ross - Chief Executive Officer

David Ross joined Arthur J. Gallagher (UK) Limited in 1990 and was named Director of its North American division in 1993. In 1997, he  was appointed Managing Director of the Specialty Lines Division becoming CEO of the newly formed Global Risks Division in 2004.

The following year, David was named CEO of Arthur J. Gallagher (UK) Limited. He also serves as Director of a number of companies in the Gallagher Group including: Risk Management Partners Limited, OIM Underwriting Limited and CGM Gallagher, as well as being a Corporate Vice President of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.

Keith Barton - Chief Financial Officer

Keith Barton joined Gallagher Benefit Services Inc. as Controller in 2002 having previously worked at Ernst & Young LLP where he was Senior Manager for its Audit and Advisory Business Services.  In 2004 he was appointed Deputy Finance Director of Arthur J. Gallagher (UK) Limited and went on to be named Chief Financial Officer of Arthur J. Gallagher (UK) Limited in 2005, the same year that he was appointed to the Board of Directors.  Keith also serves on the Boards of Gallagher Re Limited, Connor Hale Kerslake, Risk Management Partners and Arthur J. Gallagher Asia Pte Ltd. 

Keith holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Miami University of Ohio and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1998.  He is a member of the Illinois Certified Public Accountants Society and the AICPA.

Gary Lashmar - Chief Operating Officer

Gary Lashmar has more than 25 years' experience in the insurance industry, nearly all of which has been with Arthur J. Gallagher (UK) Limited.  During his time at the company, Gary has progressed through a variety of roles, including: Office Manager and Divisional Director of the North American Division; Divisional Director of Specialty Lines and Managing Director of Technical Operations in the Specialty Lines and Global Risks Divisions; member of the Operating Group. Gary was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2004 responsible for overseeing all its operational activities.

Matthew Pike - Managing Director, Gallagher London

Matthew joined Arthur J Gallagher (UK) Ltd in December 2001 when he transferred the Marine team with Jonathan Suckling (joint Managing Directors) from Swire Fraser Ltd.  In January 2006 his responsibilities were broadened when he became Managing Director responsible for the Marine, Aviation, Specie and Fine Art divisions.  He has subsequently been promoted to Managing Director, Gallagher London.


Matthew started his career in 1984 with Anthony Lumsden Cook Ltd on the Far Eastern account.  Following a number of mergers and acquisitions, he later became a member the Far East team of Sedgwick.  In November 1985, he moved to Price Forbes and was appointed an Assistant Director of Marine for the company.  In 1988, he moved to Newman, Martin and Buchan as a Divisional Director with overall responsibility for the Marine Division and finally in 1994 moved to Swire Fraser to set up their Marine Hull and Liability Division. Matthew has over 20 years in the insurance industry.

Chris Bowen - Chairman - Gallagher London

Chris Bowen joined Arthur J Gallagher (UK) Ltd in January 2007 as Deputy Chairman of Gallagher Global Risks to lead international business development activity.  He was appointed Chairman of Gallagher London and a main Board Director of AJG (UK) in June 2008. 

Chris started his career in 1966 with Stewart Wrightson, He joined Nasco Insurance Brokers as a Director in 1976.  He subsequently moved to Hogg Group, which became Bain Hogg, where He held a number of senior roles including Managing Director Overseas Non Marine, Deputy Chairman of International Division, Managing Director of Bain Hogg International and finally Chief Executive for Africa, the Middle East, Caribbean and Latin America.  In 1997, he moved to Swire Blanch Ltd as Managing Director.  From 2001 to December 2006 he was Deputy Chairman and a Director of SBJ Ltd.  Chris has over 40 years experience in the insurance industry, both domestic and international.

In 1994 Chris served for a year on the Lloyd’s Insurance Brokers Committee (LIBC) and then on the London Market Insurance Brokers’ Committee (LMBC) from 1999 until 2001.

Sarah Dalgarno - Chief Risk Officer

Based in London, Sarah plays a significant role in implementing the group's international strategy and development plans. 

Her role encompasses responsibility for regulatory matters, compliance, risk management  and governance of the UK regulated entities as well as our expanding international operations. 

Sarah has over twenty years insurance market experience including time spent at the Financial Services Authority between 2000 and 2006 where her responsibilities latterly included supervision of insurance brokers operating in the London Market. 

In 2006 Sarah joined Arthur J. Gallagher in London and was promoted the following year to Chief Risk Officer and appointed to the Board.

Sarah is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Alissa Pfitzner - Chief Counsel and Company Secretary

Alissa is based in London and leads Gallagher’s international legal team which has responsibility for the provision of strategic commercial and practical legal advice to all of Gallagher’s operations outside of the US, which for the last two years has included Singapore, Australia and the Middle East. 

Qualified in both the UK and Australia, Alissa obtained a BA from the University of Adelaide in 1995 and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in 1996.

Admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia in 1998, she was in private practice in Australia for three years working in the areas of workers compensation (for the insurers), employment practices law and acted for the State Government Insurance Commission in relation to its management of third party liability motor vehicle claims.

Moving to the UK in 2001, Alissa was in private practice for five years with a major City law firm before joining AJG UK at the start of 2006.

Initially in the role of Director, Legal Services, she was promoted to the position of Chief Counsel and appointed to the Board in September 2006.
