With shifting tactics and targets, the UK’s terrorism threat is continually evolving, as demonstrated by the recent tragic incidents in London and Manchester. These fast-changing threats require individuals and organisations to develop new risk mitigation strategies and build a stronger culture of crisis resilience.

In order to help organisations better understand how to anticipate, prevent, respond and recover from the types of terrorism incidents we are seeing today, Justin Priestley, our Director of Crisis Management, wrote a recent article for Public RM — the membership magazine for Alarm, the national forum for risk management in the public and third sector.

The fact is any organisation of any size, geography and sector could find itself and its people impacted by a wide-range of man-made security threats at any time — and the unpredictable nature, frequency and potential severity of these events cannot be underestimated.

Organisations need to do all they can to ensure they are prepared for these new threats, take steps to mitigate the risks and, importantly, understand their duty of care responsibilities in ensuring the safety of both employees and the public using their premises or services.
