London, 13 January 2016John Coldman joins Arthur J. Gallagher Holdings (UK) Limited as non-executive director
Arthur J. Gallagher today announces the appointment of John Coldman as a non-executive director, subject to regulatory approval. He will also sit on both the Remuneration & Nominations Committee and Audit Committee for the UK business.
John’s appointment is in addition to his position on the board of directors of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., which he assumed in November 2014. Having previously served as chairman of The Benfield Group, Brit Insurance and Omega Insurance — as well as deputy chairman and a member of the Council of Lloyd’s — John brings more than 45 years of insurance broking, management and financial services experience.
His appointment also completes the non-executive director line-up of Arthur J. Gallagher Holdings (UK) Limited, led by non-executive chairman Sue Langley, joining fellow NEDs Jamie Drummond-Smith, Trevor Newbery and Lady Louise Patten.
Grahame Chilton, CEO of Arthur J. Gallagher International, said: “I have admired and respected John’s insurance knowledge, insight and expertise for more than 30 years and am delighted he has agreed to take on a non-executive role for Gallagher here in the UK.
“His extensive industry knowledge and leadership experience will be a fantastic addition to our diverse and recently expanded group of non-executive directors, led by chairman Sue Langley. The momentum for effective integration and strategic growth within this business has never been stronger, and having the benefit of such a talented team’s counsel, guidance and perspective will be fundamental to our success.”
Commenting on his new role, John Coldman said: “I thoroughly enjoy serving on Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.’s board of directors and hope my Lloyd’s, London market and international experience has brought a fresh and valuable perspective. As we enter 2016, I very much look forward to expanding my contribution to the company through my new role in supporting Grahame and Gallagher’s UK leadership team as a non-executive director.”
