Belfast, 19 April 2017Arthur J. Gallagher extends headline sponsorship of NCU Challenge Cup
With the preliminary rounds of the Challenge Cup due to get underway on 29 April, Arthur J. Gallagher has announced the extension of its headline sponsorship of Northern Ireland’s historic knock-out competition for a further two years.
The Arthur J. Gallagher Challenge Cup is the Northern Cricket Union of Ireland’s premier cup competition, which this year celebrates its 130th year. Following the one-day, 50-over format, 18 teams from the NCU compete in a series of knockout games to become eventual cup winners.
After the success of last year’s event, when Arthur J. Gallagher became headline sponsor for the first time, the broker — which has a 65-strong team based in the Metropolitan Building on Belfast’s Alfred Street — was keen to commit to a further two years. This year, the sponsorship will also extend to the Women’s Challenge Cup, which starts in May.
Shane Matthews, Managing Director for Arthur J. Gallagher in Northern Ireland, comments: “We’re delighted to commit to a further two years as headline sponsor of the historic Challenge Cup. Last year’s event was fantastic to be involved in and we very much enjoyed being a part of this great regional sporting event. We’re also particularly excited that this year our sponsorship will extend to the Women’s Challenge Cup.
“We’re a community broker, which is why the Challenge Cup – a competition that all local cricket fans are passionate about – is such a perfect fit for us. It provides us with the opportunity to get out and meet people face to face to show our support for the community through our sponsorship, while championing and celebrating all that can be achieved by striving for excellence and really pulling together as a team. We look forward to this year’s competition getting started and here’s to a successful tournament for 2017.”
Alan Waite, Chairman of Northern Cricket Union of Ireland, says: “We’re extremely pleased that Arthur J. Gallagher has decided to extend its sponsorship for another two years, having been such an enthusiastic supporter of last year’s closely fought competition. The Challenge Cup is an important fixture on the Northern Cricket Union’s events calendar and so it’s vital we have strong commercial partnerships in place to make the event as successful as it can be.”
As well as being named the Arthur J. Gallagher Challenge Cup, as part of the sponsorship, the insurance broker’s branding will feature at some of the grounds where the matches will take place and on the Final match-day programme. Representatives from Arthur J. Gallagher will also attend games to present the man of the match award.
