Matthew joined Gallagher in 2001 as joint Managing Director of the Marine team.

He soon broadened his responsibilities, becoming a Managing Director responsible for the Marine, Aviation and Transport division just five years later and then Managing Director of Gallagher London. He now holds the position of Chief Operating Officer, Broking and Production.

He has over 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry, and started his career in 1984, at Anthony Lumsden Cook Ltd. As a result of several mergers and acquisitions, he then worked for Sedgwick, before being head-hunted to join Price Forbes, where he was appointed Assistant Director. He subsequently became Divisional Director of the Marine division at Newman, Martin and Buchan, before moving to Swire Fraser to set up their Marine Hull and Liability division.
