Michael was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Arthur J. Gallagher in September 2015, with responsibility for driving operational performance throughout our trading divisions. Following the acquisition-led growth of the UK business, Michael’s primary focus is ensuring that the integration of the UK retail broking businesses is successfully delivered, that our IT and Real Estate is simplified, that we harmonise our key processes, deliver our regulatory obligations and ensure the central functions deliver an appropriate service to our trading divisions. He has responsibility for Change, Claims Operations, Communications, Digital, Technology, Market Management, Offshore Services, and Real Estate.
Michael has over 20 years’ experience in the UK insurance sector, following a career as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in Dublin. Having held a number of Corporate Finance and Finance Director roles with insurers, Prudential and Churchill, he moved into his first business leadership role at NIG, part of RBS Insurance, where he was Chief Operating Officer and then Managing Director. There then followed seven years in MGA and regional broking leadership roles, first as Chief Executive of CCV and then as Chief Executive of Towergate Retail. He has a wealth of experience in acquiring and integrating regulated broking businesses, running retail operations and driving change through organisations.
