Gallagher Energy Risk Services, our specialist energy business in Canada, has been named Risk Management Company of the Year at the first ever Canadian Oil & Gas Awards.

The inaugural industry awards were launched to recognise the outstanding achievements made within the upstream and midstream sectors of the North American oil and gas industry.

The Oil & Gas awards, which have already been running in other markets including the UK, are a platform for the industry as a whole to demonstrate and celebrate advances made in important areas such as environment, efficiency, innovation, corporate social responsibility and health and safety.

As the stand-out entry from a strong shortlist, the judges pointed to Arthur J. Gallagher's combination of innovative products and programs, dedicated energy expertise and focus, superior service model, ethics and international expertise, as the key factors which determined it the winning submission. The judging panel said it was particularly impressed by the number of client testimonies received in support of the Gallagher team's entry for this category, which showed exceptional advocacy of its people and their expertise.

Vyvienne Wade, International Commercial Director, said: “Our Calgary-based energy business has long been a strong and successful part of our overseas operations, which makes it hugely fitting for the team to receive this great accolade. It was a pleasure to be there on the night to see the team recognised amongst their peers for all the hard work and the exceptional service and innovative products they deliver to our growing client base in the region. Well done to everyone involved.”

Scott Heighington, who heads up the Calgary team, added: “This really is a win for everyone in the Calgary office as we each play an important role in delivering for our clients day-in and day-out. Our close working relationship with Simon Matson and the Alesco team in London has also allowed us to bring our clients best-in-class wholesale services and they have been instrumental in helping us to build programs tailored to the north American and international energy industry.”
