    Government announcement: Personal injury discount rate changes

    The Justice Department has announced changes to the personal injury discount rates within the Ogden tables; the new rate becomes effective from 20th March 2017. The discount rate is a percentage reduction applied to lump sum compensation awards to allow for the estimated return on investment of this sum over the future loss period.

    East Midlands businesses ill-prepared for rising risk of cyber-attack

    71% of the East Midlands-based businesses attending a cybercrime seminar admitted they wouldn’t know what to do in the event of a cyber-attack, despite three-quarters believing an attack likely. That was the chief finding of the seminar held by risk management and insurance solutions specialists Arthur J. Gallagher, in conjunction with cyber security firm Unipart Security.
